Pain and the Ego – Instruments and the Path to Awareness
For consciousness to manifest, it needs a driving force. A power and an impulse for its growth. A mirror in which to see itself – the ego, and an energy to move it – pain.
Pain is the energy that stirs the stillness of our reality. It is the inner impulse that shakes the illusion that everything is in order and understood. When the reality we live in begins to crack, we do not suffer from pain itself, but from the collision between what we believe and what is. Pain is the invitation to awaken from the dream.
The ego is the form that gives this reality a face. It is the way consciousness experiences itself as separate, so it can become aware. The ego is not an enemy, but a tool. It builds the stage upon which we play while learning to see beyond it. But when we start identifying with the role, pain appears to bring us back to the observer – to the one who experiences, not the one who performs.
The more we struggle to preserve the old image of ourselves, the stronger the pain becomes. Not because it punishes us, but because reality is trying to align with our awareness. The body, events, people – everything begins to reflect this inner conflict between what we are and what we pretend to be.
The path to awareness does not pass through denial, but through seeing. Through allowing what is to exist. When we allow pain to be, it ceases to be an enemy and becomes a conduit. Through it flows the recognition of a new reality – one that doesn’t need images, only presence.
And the more we live in this reality, the more we step out of the illusion of time. For time belongs to the ego – it exists in the past and the future, in memory and expectation. Reality exists only here, in this moment. When we dwell in it, there is no past, no future – only awareness. And in that state, pain loses its purpose, because it is no longer needed.
The same applies to faith in God. As long as you call Him by name, as long as you believe in Him, as long as He is He to you, you are not part of Him. But when you begin to experience reality within yourself, you become God – and you stop thinking, naming, or believing in Him. You simply are.
The soul is the energy that materializes quantum probability into reality. It is reality itself. It has no consciousness. Our awareness, shaped through ego and pain, gives form to reality. Without consciousness to perceive it, reality cannot exist. But that is not the mind. While you are in the mind, you are in the ego – therefore in illusion. Reality cannot be thought, it can only be lived. And this lived experience of reality and unity within us is the state of love.
Pain does not come to destroy us. It comes to dissolve us.
The ego does not exist to separate us from reality, but to give us a boundary from which to begin awakening.
When we accept them as one whole, silence arises within us.
In that silence there is no struggle, no truth, only reality – the one consciousness perceives in this very moment.
